The Christmas Letter at Thanksgiving

Dear Friends,

I have a 1000 emails in my inbox from retailers so I just couldn’t bear to add to the noise on Thanksgiving weekend itself; however, I have been thinking about all of you and can’t help but hope that this year’s holiday was filled with relief and ease.

For me, it was a day of reflection.

With the news of Omicron, a hefty dose of leftovers, and the residue of exhaustion from a very uncertain year, I am grateful that I have given myself over to a lap blanket, a warm kitty, and time to write.

Part of my personal sense of gratitude is the ways in which you have continued to support my work. I wanted to take a moment to remind you what I’m up to so that you may connect to the practice in whatever way works best for you during the holiday season.

NYC

I’ve sharpened the focus of the practice in NYC to specialize in Craniosacral Therapy and Integrative Manual Therapy/IMT. With so many of us struggling with PTSD/anxiety/depression, long covid, and illnesses left untreated during the pandemic, it is an exceptional time to offer this work. I see clients in NYC on Mondays and Tuesdays at a lovely space called Massage Beyond in midtown.

ATHENS

I am creating an oasis for Craniosacral Therapy/IMT and yoga practice in Athens, NY that serves both the local community and MY community, which includes clients and friends in both locations and beyond. So far, the guests who have gotten to experience it--a morning yoga class (quirky because I’m teaching them), a hike, a session, lunch by the river, visits to neighboring Hudson and Catskill--have appreciated the time to relax and integrate.

ONLINE

Zoom sessions allow me to reach out to people from all over the globe. What I love about teaching in this context is that the format allows students to develop a movement practice they can rely on, even when I’m not there. More and more clients report that they are using the techniques from sessions to manage chronic pain, stay moving and strong, and enjoy their physicality with independence and grace.

LETTER

I’ve spent nearly a year now producing this weekly letter. It means a lot that so many people read it and I look forward to deepening my thoughts around topics that are meaningful to you. I am also striving toward my personal goal--to be the Annie Dillard of energy healing.

I’ve made a conscious decision to traverse these liminal spaces in as many formats as I can during the pandemic. That feels important in ways I can’t yet articulate. I only know that you are worth it and this work is worth it.

I hope this letter finds you and yours sated and softer as we descend into the darkness of winter. This is not an easy time and I am here for you.

With folded palms,

Jennifer
