Here and Away

Jennifer's AWAY DATES: September 11-16

Dear Friends,

I am slowly coming out of hibernation and there are lots of Tenth House Health updates.

  • We are adding FELDENKRAIS with Debra Wanner to the schedule on Wednesdays, 7-8PM. (much more info below with a link to register).

  • I will be away from September 11-16 for Three Bodies (osteopathy and beyond) training, I look forward to bringing back new techniques and insights.

  • Labor Day and training have slightly shuffled my schedule in Manhattan. I have a few open sessions (tomorrow) on Monday, September 9 and then return at the end of the month back in the usual rhythm.

  • Please see the lengthy post script for more details on all of the offerings!

Re-engaging with the heartbeat of the studio has been a blessing and also hard. I feel so much more alive when I can attend to its growth. And, I am struggling with administrative overwhelm.

As to-do lists have spilled onto more and more pages and priorities have become harder to set, I pretended for too long that working smarter was going to solve things. Isn't that what we're taught—to optimize?

When suddenly all the Black-eyed Susan’s in the garden died, they were speaking an uncomfortable truth—I had neglected them and sent my pristine record of promise keeping alongside the hardiest of flowers to the heavens.

With tail between my legs, I came clean to those I would necessarily disappoint and felt both the humility that arises from acting in integrity and the relief that surfaces when score keeping ends.

The sense of self that rose up and overtook the illusion of accomplishment felt like a wave of freedom. The immeasurable self breathed me for the first time in many months.

As we enter the final weeks of summer, I appreciate the way that Tenth House offers us (me included!) several ways to orient toward our immense and immeasurable selves as an antidote to this sort of relentless productivity.

In the greatest sense, I am not at all overwhelmed or disorganized: they are simply paying me an extended visit.

I look forward to seeing all of you as our group offerings expand.

With folded palms,

Jennifer

P.S.

FELDENKRAIS with DEBRA WANNER at Tenth House Health on Wednesday nights starting September 18, 7-8PM, $20:

Some of you know my early journey with bodywork began with a serious back injury. Feldenkrais was a key part of my recovery and a form I return to when I need to re-pattern my movement and connection to self. Debra Wanner is an accomplished practitioner and former dancer who will be joining the community at Tenth House. Her work adds an important layer of somatic inquiry on the path to wholeness and health. Small uniquely sequenced movement unblocks stagnancy in the body that accelerates creative expression throughout one’s being. Register at Tenth House Health to join us.

WAITLIST open for THE HOLDING FIELD: A PRACTITIONER GATHERING, September 22, 3PM-4:30PM, free:

This is the first gathering of Hudson Valley Practitioners at Tenth House. This is time for us to relax together with food and drink, conversation and spontaneous healing activities. The intention is to rejuvenate our spirits, forge new friendships, strengthen old ones and share encouragement. If you would like to be notified if spaces become available for this event or want to connect with us in the future please join us! We are nearly 50 people strong.
